HOW WE CAN HELP

If you've been told you have sleep apnea but struggle to use a CPAP — or if your partner tells you that you snore — an oral sleep appliance might be the answer. At Briarwood Dental, we fit custom devices that work while you sleep, repositioning your jaw just enough to keep your airway open. They're small, comfortable, easy to travel with, and for many patients, just as effective as CPAP.

How Oral Sleep Appliances Work

Oral sleep appliances — also called mandibular advancement devices (MADs) or mandibular repositioning devices (MRDs) — work by gently advancing the lower jaw forward during sleep. This movement keeps the airway open, preventing the collapse that causes snoring and sleep apnea events.

Who Are They Right For?

Oral appliances are most effective for mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea and primary snoring. They are also an excellent option for patients with severe OSA who are unable to tolerate CPAP therapy.

Ideal candidates
